Bonnet won't release...about to torch it...sorted

I appreciate there are security issues around this fix.
I went out to fill the washer bottle, and the passenger side catch of the bonnet released, but the drivers side didn't...
The passenger side now won't relocate to lock the bonnet down into position....I've done everything apart from jump up and down on it Evil or Very Mad
I'd rather not drive around with one side flapping about in case the whole thing decides to release on the move....
Any suggestions, without attracting the wrath of the mods, which doesn't involve a can of petrol and matches Censored

Take it for a slow back road drive and see if a few bumps in the road free it up?

You could try pushing the bonnet down while someone pulls the leaver . On my very first test drive it did the same with me and that cured it. I should have walked away then but thats another story Rolling with laughter
Edit: Too slow on the keys : Laughing

Right I'm in....
Tried putting pressure downwards (2 small children sitting on it) but that didn't work....grabbed a passing neighbour and asked him to pull upwards as I pulled the lever....it released Very Happy
Both catches were full of crud, and salted up......the passenger side still wouldn't close (even though I could do it manually with a screwdriver) so cleaned them both out thoroughly, liberally sprayed all 3 catches with spray grease and it seems to be working fine.
Did also notice the cable was sticking so freed that too.....I probably wouldn't have noticed that in the daylight, but could see into the inner reaches with my trusty Narpy torch 8)
Very surprised at how quickly that happened as I cleaned and greased them in the Spring, and they were fine the last time I filled the washer bottle up....will have to check them more often at this time of year I suppose...

I've had the reverse problem - one side will close but the other won't.

Tracked it down to the terrain on which it was parked - by which I mean it would close OK on a flat level surface but on a particular part of my drive, which slopes and falls away to the offside, it wouldn't.

Who said the D3/4 had an extremely stiff chassis ? Load of Censored if you ask me Rolling Eyes

I think my car might have sensed me lusting after a very nice tungsten silver XC90 R-design that I was parked next to today.....probably getting her own back for my potential infidelity......
And to think I've bought her new new Winter boots arriving shortly...there is no pleasing some cars....
