Boot space, 6x5 fence panel?

Before I start wrestling tomorrow, from your past experience, will a 6’ x 5’ fence panel fit in the back of a disco? Or will I have to strap it to the roof?

Anyone done it before?

Ta !

Think you'll struggle - I've managed to load 4' by 4' sheets of plywood in at an angle but it was tight.

You'd be better strapping it to the roof rack to save damage to the interior.

Available width is 4', and length 5'6" in a commercial, so if anything you have the same width but maybe an inch or two less in length.

Available height is 3'4".

It might go in diagonally with the tailgate open.

Yeah I thought it was a big ask. Haha my mates who thought I was mad getting a Landie might just be told “yeah it was no problem” and I’ll do it when they’re not around.

If you have rails, even short ones, you should be able to lash it down well enough for a short journey at sensible speed. Anyone near you able to loan roof bars? Better still.

Have it delivered Whistle - could work out a lot cheaper!

I've got a 6' x 4' in the back of my D3 before now, but it was a pretty tight fit. Wouldn't fancy trying to get a 6' x 5' to fit!

I've had the Expedition roof rack in the back with the tailgate open, which must be a similar size to 6x4ft – that was a tight fit diagonally.

I had 6x6 panels on the roof of my D3 quite often, I don't think you'll get anything bigger than 6x4 in the boot.

I've had a call from the local fencing company I use this morning to say the 3 6x6 panels I ordered won't be delivered next week and the depot is shutting tonight, so I'll be putting them on the roof of my D4 this afternoon, along with 3 posts and 6 bags of postcrete in the boot with the tailgate down.

Don't think I ever put 3 in one go on the roof of the D3, but the company is running a strict collection slot and dumping the stuff in the road outside so will have to try.

What would we do without our Discos.

I've just got back and the roads are deserted, but it is very rural around here.

I not only saw two police cars but got stopped by one.

I had 3 fence panels on the roof, the lower tailgate down with posts sticking out the back and bags of postcrete in the back.

He was very good about it, and explained that he understood I thought the journey was important but I should think harder next time.

I really don't know what I'd do without my Disco to haul stuff about in.

Nasher.
