Hi all
Boot was fine yesterday. Went to use it today. Won’t open. Can’t hear any sound from the lock...
Is it this fix? :
Or if not, what is it?
Please don’t say another bill!

Try pressing buttons on dash and 3rd button on key but if nothing then consider prising off the rubber cover on the rear hatch release and checking for corrosion in there, if theres no sound from the actuator it may have failed but they 'usually' go slow and groan before they fail completely, if the 'hook' end had broken you would/should still hear the actuator function. If you still can't get into the boot then thats the way to go - good luck!

Much more fun than having a reliable car that works first time, every time. Where's the fun in that?

Happens often when the plastic clip inside, moves to one side and does not touch the switch right...
Since i use a cheap ford focus version of ebay/amazon, it happen quite often here..
I am going to order a genuine one very soon....
In the meantime, programm your third key to open the boot....
For safety reasons always a good thing... Best regards
Harold

Well well well, today the boot wouldn’t open again!
I set the third button on the fob to tailgate release and boom!
Took about 10 seconds to do too
Simply keep window open so you can hear the ding
Go to boot
Press and hold the third key button / boot button at same time
Should hear it ding
Then third button holds it open.
Now it seems to be working fine manually too

I saw they are not reliable the Ford ones?
And I can’t find anything with splice in search now but I’ll look through similar topics and see! Cheers

Not sure about reliability as I'm about to fit one to my nieces D3, there are only two black wires going to that switch, the others on the standard loom are for the number plate lights, just leave these. Pop out the switch you can see these wires, cut them off close to the handle end thus leaving you plenty to solder to the two wires on the new switch (cut off the new plug and bare the wires) best leave the lower tailgate open when doing this but its easy enough and a cheap alternative. Worth a try at under a tenner
