Had 0C on hols in aviemore 3 weeks ago at 6:30am & no signs of life in FBH, also 4C this morning & nothing. Maybe mine is saving itself for proper winter weather we never get in S Wales.

It may have locked out - disconnect the small 2 wire plug for >10 seconds...

Will do. Does it help that much warm up the engine a I find it's up to a reasonable temperature after a couple of miles at 60mph??

Your dealer is right - from factory it is there to help engine heat up when it is cold (approx 5 degC or lower) and engine is started.
As an extra you can have the timer installed so the FBH can be timed to start like ½hour before departure. Then you have a warm engine and cabin.
Cheers

Derek, IMO it does help the warm up a lot. On cold mornings, you will warm up in traffic as quick as you do at 60mph.
The time that you notice how effective it is, is when you set off on a frosty morn with an empty fuel tank (warning lamp on), this inhibits the FBH and the warm up will be noticably slower.
As an example, my office is 7 miles from my house. In summer my engine is at normal temp after 3 miles of slow traffic. In winter, with FBH running, it is warm at 3 miles if not before. If I run the fuel low in winter and drive to work with the lamp on, it never reaches temp

Cheers Gareth, will check on first frosty morning that it is/is not working & reset as per TFC if not. If then not playing, down to the stealer to fix along with front fog lights that seem not to want to light up (will check fuse first).
