I used a large G clamp and a small 25mm wide strip of steel to bridge the piston

The handle end of the disco jack winding tool is quite a good lever for the job
Like so: (lever upwards - taking care not to damage disc)
Long succession of Disco's since 2001...
SIII Lightweight - neglected & rusting. Bulkhead, A panels, vent panel & outriggers now disintegrated - Next years project!

I thought I was the only person who used a G clamp!
A screw driver was more than capable of getting the caliper off.D3 HSE MY05 Auto

I needed to borrow one for the rear of SWMBO's Vaux Zafira as they are screw in and push type on the rear.
It will almost guarantee a completely square on retraction of the caliper
TBH, I use a lever on the brake pads before I take the caliper off to push the piston back. It still keeps it square, but of course is not the technically approved way. Bodsys Brake Bible
you will need a faultmate on the next generation LR vehicles, starting with the Evoque. The park brake is on the same caliper and will need to be driven pack electrically.

machine mart sell a universal caliper push back tool for the non wind back pistons its only around £ 5 , makes the job a bit easier then the g clamp and wont mark the caliper.'Just because you're breathing doesn't mean you're alive'

Use a small syring and suck out spare brekae fluid if necessary before it spills. Also be careful to change brake fluid at 3 year point - I have had several D3 calipers that have cause hot discs due to corrosion on pistons due to old fluid.
Does not take long to change fluid - not special tools or computer - and better done before time than after corrosion
