Brake Disc Scoring
Recently I started to notice pretty steering wheel wobble when braking at high speed - most identifiable when leaving a motorway exit.
I found some threads on this problem being caused by brake discs so replaced them and the vibration has gone away.
On the inside face of one of the discs I replaced I could see a pretty deep and consistent scoring. I didn't see any stones etc that would have caused it and I had not heard any scraping or squealing coming from the front of the car.
I am almost suspecting the pads but they have worn evenly and had more than 8mm of pad left.
I am a bit stumped. Anyone got any idea what might have caused the disc damage ?

that looks like a stone to get a score line that deep, but has probably broken up and gone now

Thanks Al - think you are right there - hadn't thought about the stone disappearing
Nuisance because those discs were hardly worn

Now the stone has gone the wobble may have gone with it It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

Yep a good chance but in my case I had cheated and changed the pads first as it was the most economic option and the wobble was still there
I can only guess that the damage to the disc was enough to create a slight vibration or maybe the discs were warped although I don't tend to hammer the brakes.
