Quick question please....
Does a feb 2005 HSE have the break pad wear indicator as standard ?

So a dealer telling me today they need replacing....surely this should have been 'indicated' to me? Finally got one......Silver HSE.

Having searched it appears this wear indicator is practically useless.
Unless you can convince me otherwise? Finally got one......Silver HSE.

It's only on opposite brake corners, so if you have a problem with the wrong one, it coiuld wear down without you knowing. Indicators are just that, an inidcation that the wear is getting thin. No substitute for the human eye.
I take it they're also replacing the brake pads at the same time then? Bodsys Brake Bible

I would agree. My dealer told me at last service my pads were shot with virtually nothing on them - I had not warning light, bongs or otherwise. That said, I looked at the bill and I was charged for new sensors  D3 HSE V8...

Mine activated and gave me the warning! 
But only because the dudes who replace the front brake pads obviously didn't know they were there  and broke the front one!   Have a nice day!

Yes mines just gone in for repairs again and I got a phone call to say all four sets were shot, no warning or indication on the dash, they might as well turn them off as well as the pre heater with the next software upgrade.

I replaced my brakes which was an easy task.
However to repace the brake wear sensor this involves taking off the inner plastic wheel arch liner and a lot of fiddling to replace the sensor cable.
Forget that!
I just cut the sensor cable near the end, stripped and twisted the ends together, taped up and tie wrapped in place.
I regulary visually check my brake linings so there is no issue.
If you pay landrover to change the brakes I would suggest most of the time (money charged, a lot) is replacing the sensors the actual pads for each wheel can be done in 10 mins, parts £100.00.
