Brake pads OEM or ..

My D4 is approaching a set of pads, I generally like to to this all round, so will do a full change out over a couple of weekends

So what's people experiences of non LR pads on D4's? on my D3 I generally ran oem discs and used the Ferodo premium pads which had the same pad material as oem.

Despite a bit of searching I can't seem locate a Ferodo pad for the D4 using the same material as the LR oem pad, I can get the Ferodo premier pad but I can't confirm the materials match.

Anyone using a lower dust ceramic bad such as EBC to dare I say Terrafirma?

AF seem to have lost of options, I've never used Meyle, any reports ?

TIA

I have just got some Texar front pads (I think thats the name) from AF (Paul there said they condsidered them good pads). Not fitted yet, might be going on at the weekend as I was going to check pad depth when swapping to winter alloys. Though it would be easier at the same time the wheels were off.

I got a set of TRW disks and pads from Advanced Factors. No issues and I have come to realise how worn my brakes really were. Brakes are MUCH more positive now! Shocked

We have had a lot of issues, mainly brake judder & discs warp from non genuine pads. Same goes for the discs.

We fit quite a few sets & have only had one set of Gen pads/discs that had judder/warp.
We have seen a lot of non genuine which we have had to replace before they were worn out with warp problems.
I'm not saying all will do it, it just increases the chances.
Interestingly the runout on the discs were good, but the judder was there until renewed, then fine afterwards.

regards
Steve

Had the judder through the pedal. Like braking / not braking and thought the pads were too hard. Brakes had little feel and felt poor compared to other vehicles I own.

It turned out that it was the rear discs and pads causing the problem. The disc were unmarked and the pads were relatively new. Visually there was nowt wrong with them. Changed them over and wow what a difference.

Very impressed with the TRW low dust pads. I would find it difficult to recommend anything else.

Do the TRW low dust pads have a wear sensor built in? TRW's website suggests that they do, but a set of four front pads from AF do not. Strange, as AF advised me to buy a new wear sensor cable from them!
Pads are GDB1632DTE.

The cable is the wear sensor! It clips to one of the pads on the left front or right rear wheel.

Ah! So that's what the little notch in the pad's backing plate is for! We live and we learn.
Thank you.
