Brake Sensor disconnected? How and Why..
The 'Check Brake Pads' warning came on around 700 miles after I picked up my vehicle...
I have just spent the evening replacing my pads and the last wheel I got to was the rear offside..I found this:
The question is Why it took so long for the warning to come on?
I suspect that water got into the sensor and caused the fault to come up?
As it happens the pads were OK at the back!

Excuse my ignorance but what are these dangly weights for?

Someone obviously did not replace the sensor when the pads were last changed. There are only two wires, one front left, the other rear right. They are fragile and a to replace, so many just leave them and rely on visual checking.
This is not always the best way as I have found out. My rear left (no sensor anyway) inner pad went to metal before I realised the pads were getting to the end. I had been delaying them since before my trip to Morocco, now got new discs and pads.
