Cheers for the link
Now all I need is to convince SWMBO that we need 4 new wheels and tyres as well as new brakes. I've only got 17" rims 1995 Discovery 1 300TDI

New wheels, tires and brakes increase road safety by making the car stick better to the road! I’m sure she will be convinced

If only that would work on SWMBOs. Mine would just say that I should have bought a safe car in the first place!!

I received acceptance when I said that “we” need to have Nokia Hakka 9 SUVs with studs on an almost 3 ton vehicle except “same brand as on the Volvo, right?”

I keep on trying to get a set of winters for the Disco (both Jazzez are on winters) but get the standard answer "if it's that bad you're not going out".
I've gone from this to one extra part worn Scorp. How the mighty have fallen.

Since use of summer/winter tires is mandated by law I think it is easier here - it’s only a question of brand, price and perceived safety.
The choice is basically between friction or studs. With the low amount of snow we’ve received this year (looks and feels like a rainy October day outside again...) I really should be using friction tires. The brand new studs will be all by spring but they’re much better on black ice should it ever arrive.
The amount of tires you have in those pictures is kind of a lot, my local tire place keeps less stock

Saldly all now gone. The therapy worked!!
Sounds like a good case for two sets of winters, one studded & one not.

One set of summers, one set of winters is enough. I don’t bother changing tires except twice a year.

Being down souf I can't really play the needing winter tyres card. Had one squeaky bum moment last year on black ice heading down a single track hill with a very sharp hairpin at the bottom (mini driver trying to barge up must have herself) but other than that my All terrains get me everywhere I need to go!
Never mind the tyres, I would just like a garage to put things in 1995 Discovery 1 300TDI
