Just wanted to share with you what I had been doing with my Disco the past few months!
For the past 7 months I've owned my Disco, I spent 6 months of it properly cleaning it up with various methods...
I decided to buy a DAS-6 Megs kit from CleanYourCar.co.uk and various bits and bobs along the way... I first had practice on my dad's new black MB E-class which came out a treat! Then I moved to my Disco... Initially starting off with th 83/80 kit I got a bit of a correction but decided that I'd probably want to try something else... And I bought the Menzerna polishes and it was quite a difference in performance!
Anyway, the Disco...
1) Washed with ONR and MF mitt
2) Dried with CYC super-massive drying towel
3) Clayed with AG Clay kit (IMHO preferred the Megs kit when I did my dad's Merc)
4) Swirls removed with 83/80 combo and most recently Menz combo on a DAS-6 with a load of Menz, Sonus and Megs pads
5) Hand pad with AG SRP
6) Coated with AG EGP
7) Double coat of Megs #16
8) Black plastic trim protected with 303 Aerospace Protectant
9) Wheels cleaned with ONR, polished with SRP, double coat EGP and single Megs #16
10) Tires done up with Megs Endurance
11) Glass done up with AG Fast Glass and coated with Rain-X
12) Side steps polished with Autosol
Here are some pictures I could just about muster from the underground garage...

I really enjoyed seeing the fruits of my labour! I guess apart from some RDS and stone chips it really isn't too bad for a 5 year old car? Only issue is not a number of really bad bird poo etchings that I've to get rid of and it should be all done up!
Hope you guys have enjoyed this as much as I did! Thanks in advance for any comments and critiques!
If there is anybody in the London area who would like me to do their Disco up I'd be willing to help out for a small bit of wonga! (And I mean small)

Very tidy. That looks like an awful lot of hard work.
When do the ATRs get dirty?
Photo 3 would be a classic calendar entry if there were a couple of D3s in the reflection. At least one should be orange.Club missing my D3

Haha! I did get my ATRs dirty when I decided to point the Disco up a hill and floored it up a muddy hill near Dunnet's Head! Amazing experience I must say!

Very nice indeed. They're a big old thing to get round with a polisher as well. Is the DAS a DA machine? I use the Makita rotary but also use Menz polishes, usually 203 and 85RE on Gloss-It pads.

Also, what LSP are you using?
Hi!
Yeah the DAS is a DA... I didn't want to take the leap into rotary world yet but I'm seriously considering it now given the time it takes to remove the swirling and defects. The Menz 203 and 85RE were incredible coming from the Megs 83/80 combo with the 5" Menz pads and Sonus 4" pads.
LSP wise I'm using Megs #16 which in my opinion gives a great shine and warmth to the paintwork. Durability-wise I'm pretty sure it can hold its own against the likes of Collinite 476...

Fancy a trip to Ireland? Pints on me? Kudos on the Disco, looks 8) , how long did it take for you to master the art of detailing!?!
Are we still speaking english here? I'm only getting one word in ten
And whats all this washing cars malarky? Only gets dirty again. Bit like dusting the house. Mark.

I love that showroom finish, glint of sunshine off the bonnet as you cruise out of the showroom into that sh*tty winter weather, 8 hrs of work for 5 mins happiness, its like climbing hills to ski back down
Nice Job Nikmac I wish I had the patience
