AFAIK UK isn’t party to Catalonia, Ceuta, Melilla (Morocco would be to the last two) so dragging that card out probably doesn’t help the discussion regarding Gibraltar...?

There won't be a 'discussion' re:Gilbraltar.
If Spain did bring Gibraltar in as an 11th hour roadblock we'd enter the morning with a hard Brexit and the EU 10s of billions worth of black hole.Black 05 TDV6 HSE Auto

Not sure why that's directed at me?
Many varied, and valid, reasons to want to leave.

I came down on the side of Brexit, as did you.

Remember it's not all agreed until it's all agreed. Just wait until 5 minutes to midnight (metaphorical clock) when everything is supposedly agreed by everybody
But remember that, as also clarified by Theresa May it will be 5 to 11 pm as it is the EU time that is going to be used

The EU seems to find itself in an unprecedented situation. All we hear is brexit, brexit, brexit and the other problems of the EU get little exposure.
Maybe in UK as of course the focus there is and should be on Brexit
I can hardly read or hear anything in the media in other countries. They are taking care of their own issues and no need to worry about that in UK as it is EU stuff for people "In the continent"It takes all sorts (to make a world).

To which the correct reply would be "let's discuss Catalonia, Ceuta, Melilla..."
NO, no no...
Spain can talk about Gibraltar of course, and Ceuta or Melilla .... as is natural ... but the matter of Catalonia, I'm sorry, is absolutely private for you!! I would never consider talking or discussing the matter of the Ulster with you!!lost in translation!

Ruben,
How can “Catalonia” be a private matter for Spain. How Spain reacts will be a measure of how the situation will develop. You cannot keep a lid on it not in this age of social media. To issue an European arrest warrant based on crimes that are not recognised in Europe is naive to say the least. It smacks of desperation on the part of the Spanish government. Here in Scotland we had a democratic referendum and the result was largely accepted. Why didn’t the Spanish government do the same, possible the result would be a resounding yes. But being in hock to the EU banks leaves little room for manoeuvre for the Spanish government. Let’s hope it can be resolved through a democratic process and we do not see violence. The outcome will have an effect on Europe as a wholeOnce you have defeated the idiots any job is half done. Pity there are so many idiots to defeat.

....Although we think of it well, we can send TM and Mr. Puigdemont together to an isolated cabin in the Alps for a weekend, while we bet on which of the two will leave the policy, out of sheer boredom, the following Mondaylost in translation!

Mr Watson,
if you want to make a correlation between the subject of Scotland and that of Catalonia is your problem, but I honestly think that you are wrong, in the Scottish case no final law was violated, as is the case, THE SPANISH CONSTITUTION with a unilateral declaration, and the issue of violence ... leave it ... that is pure propaganda that proved totally false ... must believe me, the Catalan problem is totally artificial and supremacist with the rest of Spain.....and YES .... it's just a Spanish problem!!lost in translation!

Ruben,
Like all of us you are entitled to you view of the situation and it is nearer to home for you than most of us. Only time will tell how this pans out. One thing history tells this will not go away any time soon.Once you have defeated the idiots any job is half done. Pity there are so many idiots to defeat.

will end as it can not be otherwise, those who commit crimes will go where they need to be, the jail, and people will continue to fight for what they really believe, some for their independence, an option that has always been totally respectable here when within the legal and loyal margins despite the fact that some sell, and I see that with some success, a distorted image of the current Spain to the rest of the world, I remind you that the Basque independence movement was never crushed because it is an idea in itself , what was fought was against terrorism!!
.. and the modern CATALAN INDEPENDENCE was movement artificially created in the last 20 years, and it has a place in Spanish politics... but always within the law, that if it is contrary must be able to change but by gathering the necessary alliances within the Spanish state, that is not disputed, ...and NEVER, and this is the problem, UNILATERALLY,!!lost in translation!
