Inspected the centre bearing on Miss Moneypit's rear prop this morning & confirmed my suspicion that it's cream crackered.
Has anyone any experience of the Britpart prop? It's seems to be the best priced one around of a known brand, however i'm cautious of some Britpart components from previous experience.
I don't want to rush in & fit something thats going to give me grief in the near future.
Cheers Nick

Have you seen the individual centre bearings on the advance factors site? My rear prop is in exactly the same state as yours as noted whilst servicing the other week. The centre bearings individually are about 30 bucks each. Can you swap out the original on the prop which left the factory?

I did see it on Advance Factors and gave it brief consideration. I'd rather replace the whole thing as the Uv joint looks Drayton.
I remember faffing with a Prop donut joint on a Renault Rx4 once. Never again

I replaced my proposhaft rather than just doing the centre bearing and I was glad I did because when I removed the prop it was obvious that the universal joints were tight and all needed replacing Current:

Understood.
I do need to place another bulk order for delivery to Switzerland so maybe I man up and buy a new prop. I'm sure I'll find many other ways to use Switzerland's finest export...i.e. Sikaflex (that I bought from german ebay!)

As above.. UJ’s were shot too
As for Britpart, there are a few stories and experiences posted around, but bear in mind that it’s not every product they sell.
Some avoid the service kits, but then you make your choices on advice or your own judgement.
Personally I fitted a part from JGS 4x4, and it was a GKN full propshaft. I am sure the Britpart will be fine, but experience tells me that bearings are a major component, and I wanted a brand that has a known quality in that field.2011 MY D4 HSE

Went for the GKN option from AF in the end. Turned up yesterday, took around 90 minutes in the humid weather this afternoon to raise the D3 strip out the old & torque in the new.
