Still waiting.
They were supposed to call back today, however the person dealing with my car went home without calling. The other customer service person said that the first knew all the details so best if she updates me. I have told them that I expect an email on the best time to call as I'm on a course the next 3 days, abnd dont know when I will be available, and who exactly to speak to.
My guess is that it isnt good news.

Just spoken to garage. They are sending a report by email, but saying main bearing has gone, due to lack of oil.MY07 Freelander2 SE Santorini Black - Gone

Here is the official report from Guy Salmon:
he car came in and would not start due to not cranking. We found the main fuse to starter motor had failed, this normally indicates the engine has seized or been restricted from turning over.
There is a lot of oil showing all over the engine indicating a bad leak and the job card states a seal had failed on the oil filter causing oil loss. This has since been repaired by a 3rd party. The oil level is correct at the moment.
We replaced this fuse and the car now cranks over and runs but there is a loud knocking from the lower end and the engine runs rough.
We suspect main or big end bearing failure. We can not say which bearings have failed with out extensive striping of the engine which will incur further labour, approx. 6-8hrs.
We can not confirm the cause of the failure but the loss of oil is likely a factor.
If you would like a full estimate for all parts and labour to replace engine and turbo's I will get this done, let me know.MY07 Freelander2 SE Santorini Black - Gone

Sent a very long email to JLR, stating your 9 year old car developed an oil leak, which caused damage to itself? My D3 Build Thread

I hope you quizzed them on why the car didn’t provide you with any warning and how an owner is supposed to know what is going on. Interested to hear what they have to say . Good luckGary

Round 1 to JLR.
Totally blamed non use of LR Retailer for service, as they cannot confirm that the works were completed to LR standards.
They confirmed again, that there are no parameters for the operation of the oil warning light, but they are happy with how it works!!!!!!!
JLR will not give any assistance.
