The T/SDV6 cranks break, the bearings turn in the journals etc. We all know this. We also all know that the chances of this happening is low when considered in context of the thousands of T/SDV6s on the road. What he does is try to reduce the risk as much as possible for the owner and for him, given he is liable for the 12 month warranty.
And the parting words from Joe are always "I hope to never see you again"
I actually feel more relaxed about a snapped crank 'event' (should it ever happen) after reading that! D4 2014

Given you have a snapped crank, the likelihood is that your block is also warped so you are likely looking at a minimum of £5k + VAT.
A Genuine LR lump is £6k + VAT, with a 2yr, unlimited mile, nationwide warranty... My D3 Build Thread

That doesn't include labour though does it Mike? The first price does.
Including labour, for a new engine, you are talking over £10k which is now more than the value of some of the vehicles running the 3.0. This just doesn't make economic sense. Kev

Having had this very problem fixed by Oval last year I can confirm 'base cost' rising dependent upon what is needed.
My crank didn't actually snap - main bearing cap snapped and crank bent - Joe said he hadn't seen this before and which failed first Crank or Cap we will never know.
New Block / New Crank / 2 x Injectors / 2nd Stage Turbo - all told just over £7k
You can email info@ovalautos.com or phone on 01384-411492
As advised it was £1,500 Deposit and balance prior to collection
They did a great job and I am happy to recommend - beware the ones that advertise cheap jobs, suspect that it looks good on paper but then you find that everything is extra and final bill will be higher than having it done properly in the first place !
Good luck
Jon

This reminds me of an unusual D3 advert that I saw yesterday. I am not promoting the website and I have no connection with the listing so search eBay item number:124228556190 if you want to take a look.
Basically it is a D3 with 200k miles on the clock, and a "new" engine fitted by LR indie, which they billed at £7000, but customer refused to pay. Some agreement was reached and Disco now offered at £3k as a good runner but no guarantee on the engine because it was not paid for. Chris
