Some blind tw@t has bashed the mirror and we found it with the glass hanging out with only the 2 heating wires stopping it crashing to the ground.
The plastic bits inside seem to have been made out of a very brittle material so only 2 clips remain and the white bits that move the mirror, via the electric motor, have fallen apart too.
I have got the glass back in but i can only adjust it manually up and down whilst the electrics work left and right.
So I can live with it but, dare I ask, does anyone know what the cost of the bits would be or does the whole assembly need replacing?
Cheers.

I've heard that these are very reasonably priced anyway. Matt

The glass and plastic mount (one unit) are about £25. However, when fitting it, make sure you press ONLY IN THE CENTRE OF THE GLASS!! or you will need another one.
It is one of those jobs where you would be best advised to persuade your 'friendly' dealer to fit the glass, as if they break it (and they probably will) then they will have to pay for the next one.

Ahh! Cheers! I think I broke one of the clips myself when trying to get it back on but it is the little white bits in the circular part that the mirror clips onto that are broken too.
I think they control the electric movement.
As with the keying I think that I will just live with it as I can still use the mirror.
Cheers.

.... and if you spot a replacement glass on ebay going too cheap, and it says its flat sided ... Thats a code for 'its left hand drive spec'
So now I can see whats behind me a very close up detail, and have a BIG blind spot ! ..............Somewhere in-between my old D3 and what's to come next .........

Hi mate the same thing happened to me. The little white pieces of plastic work on an outer ring, I tried every sort of glue but couldn't get them to sick. Dealer quoted £25 + vat for a replacement motor which cures the poblem. If you get one it's an easy swap. You can often get the complete mirror from Ebay for the same cost as the motor.
