Build Quality - Delays to vehicle currently on order

I was due ot take delivery of my 2006 Bonatti Grey HSE TDV6 in Sept06 but was told due to a problem with the RR there would be a 7 week delay whilst LR check the quality of the rubbers on all models.
This gave me a revised delivery date of 3rd Nov 06, whihc meant I would get the 2007 model and the colour would now be Stornoway Grey.
Howver this week I have been told this has slipped to 12th Dec 06, but have not been given a reason. Appraently the dealer has not been given any information on why this has happened.
We think that maybe there is an issue with the paint as 2 other Stornoway cars are also delayed.
Does anyone have any inside knowledge to share? Or any tips for finding our the real reason?
(Sorry to admit this to you all but I did take a look at the Q7 at the weekend, such was my anger with LR. However, it is more expensive to get the same level of kit and only looks good from the front. The rear seats are also a joke. They have beater rear seats in a TT)

As the first delay meant you are now going to get an 07 model instead of an 06 model is well worth it and will effect your future resale value.

'Sorry to admit this to you all but I did take a look at the Q7 at the weekend.'

Have you also looked at the Mercedes GL-Class. The pair of third row seats fold individually into the floor and come up with the press of a button!!!??

I haven't seen the price. How much is it? I don't want one myself. I just spotted it in WhatCar? magazine. They don't give a price and they only photograph the very front. That would be why. I love my D3. Very happy with it. Very Happy

Wow. A lot of money! Seats coming up with the touch of a button was the only thing that caught my eye as I have to change this every day. However I will still be doing it manually. Surprised

I’ve just been in a GL; to get to the 3rd row seats is possible only on the right side, the 2nd row folds 2/3 and the larger part doesn’t flip. The seat rest bends though. True, the 3rd row folds/unfolds electrically, but to get to them, the 2nd row folds by means of a flimsy plastic lever… that needs a lot of force to press! The Disco way is much better. The space in the 3rd row is much smaller than in the Disco, overall there seems to be less space inside the GL than in the D3 except for the boot with the 3rd row up, there’s almost double capacity there… The plastics in the GL are much better, but it’s competing the FFRR anyway. I think the GL is overall better than the Q7.

I'm guessing that's Ok if you drive on the right-hand side of the road, but not too safe for loading and unloading (esp. kids) if you drive on the left and therefore tend to park on the left (if you know what I mean.....well I know what I mean). Confused

Do they switch this for the UK market?

I was thinking about that too while fighting to get in the back... I think a 3 part folding 2nd row could have been done easily.
That reminds me... Do you know that us left hand driving europeans can't see the gear we're in? The plate for the automatic gearbox lever is the same for the UK and the rest of the world!
