Burnt diff oil

Hi all,

I've just had both diffs, gearbox and transfer box oil replaced. Transfer box was fine still, gearbox was black with a bit of swarf on the plug. The diff oil was burnt with a fair amount of swarf but no big/worrying sized chunks. I presume it hasn't been changed in a while. Could that be why it smells burnt or could it be more sinister?

It has been in very deep water and off-roaded a fair bit so I'm wondering if water has got in or the diffs have just got hot.

Thanks

Chris

Lots of swarf and burnt oil aint good, if its still quiet change the oil again in a few months time and see how it looks.

I think water turns diff oil a sort of milky colour.

Andi.
