I was a bit skeptical about buying a secondhand unit of the auction site for the same reason as you probably.

If mines knackered then surely most to ones on the auction site will be too? Whistle

However, i took the punt after being assured if it didn't work it could be returned, bought one for a very reasonable price (75 notes, collected), swapped it out in under a couple of hours, it runs a treat. No error codes, same part number, same age as the vehicle. Now when i can pick up a new glow plug at the right price, i'll have a go at getting the original unit back in service at my leisure.

At least the missus is off my case now she has a warm car again Thumbs Up

If your ECU in old Thermo top V is working fine, you can upgrade your old one with the Thermo top EVO 5

you need to replace old ECU from old to new

then you need 2 adapters from 18mm/22mm

and a new molded hose from water pump to webasto.

I'm getting a molded hose next week, that should fit, I will provide number when i have it replaced

I had to use a custom fix, as i didn't know it before i installed mine, but will get new hoses next week

I got one like this
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEW-WEBASTO-5KW-...SwyTZUXNz2

it is a cheap upgrade, as the EVO 5 is a much better unit Thumbs Up

You also need to transfer the coolant pump over as the Evo 5 doesn't have one.

yes you need to use old water pump Thumbs Up

that is why you need an adapter from 18/22 to fit new hose to old on pump

but still it's a cheaper fix, than refurbish your old V TOP, and then you get a brand new unit in your car

just remember this will not work if your ECU on V TOP is malfunction..

I changed because diagnose told me burner/glow plug was bad
