To buy at under 90k miles or above 110k miles

Hi Guys.
New here, but other Landies for ever.
So I have decided that it is time to give my aching body a rest from my bumpy old stuff, and get a Disco 3. Done lots of homework, including all the possible problems. Now it seems to me that a lot of the usual problems seem to occur at 80 to 90 thousand miles. Folk who are selling them seem to have replaced lots of parts around this time.

Question.... Should I try to get a lower miler, say around 80k miles, or go for one with more miles on the clock that has passed that critical part in the vehicles life, and had some of the problems dealt with.

Hi
Your story could be mine 18 months ago
I came from a long line of simpler LR product
I bought above 100k
All the big service issues had been done plus the 80k mid life crisis issues that could arrise
Still had a few minor niggles but on the whole been solid
I bought as late a model as I could afford eventually finding a nice 09 HSE in Stornoway Grey with a FLSH
Hope it goes well for you pal
Phil

Hi there .

IF the only reason is money .... its not for you as most parts aren't cheap when they do go/
Go lower or higher mileage its up to you as there is no main pattern when they break...
Higher you could say well if it going to brake it would have by now
lower as above but will break now...

Cam belts 7yrs or 105km which evers first.
NEW belts ect £300 quid ,fitting £300 £600 for younger d3
New oil pump and service. oil, filters, oil filter, crank seal ,get both done at same time save £££ £400.
So your talking plus a grand with a indie doing the job.

one off the forum or a one owner or 2 with loads of history

PS got d3 with 250k plus and d4 with 7ok both drive the same if looked after.

Did consider buying from a dealer who offers a warranty, but how fair are they if you try to claim against them for a fault..................small print ???
So maybe buy privately and leave a bit in the kitty for a rainy day !

other than LR dealer the warranty's are rarely worth the paper they a written on in my experience - I would rather spend less on a known car with lots of history/receipts from a forum member (which is what I did)
