Quote:(kept the old front belt as a spare)
Why would you do that?
If the belt goes then the last thing you're going to have to worry about is finding another belt. If it doesn't go why would you want to change a belt for another old belt? D3 HSE MY05 Auto

Not wishing to second guess Dunc, but I assume he means either the old front Aux belt, or the rear fuel pump belt. I cannot imagine the spare timing belt being useful for anything as if the fitted one snaps it'll destroy the engine anyway, and a new belt will be the least of your worries. Dr. Ian Malcolm:

That's why I was questionning why he would want to keep it. Having had three cambelt failures in my driving career I know how painful it can be. Although only 1 I had to pay for. I had two failures on an Alfa 156 which was a company car so the comapny had to sort it. I also had a failure on a Ford Puma after 27k miles. Ford said it was low on oil and wouldn't pay out on it. Even though it had been serviced only 500 miles previously.
Ended up costing me about £2000 - not nice. D3 HSE MY05 Auto

Hi
As i have said in another post (timing belts) i have recently done this job myself. Rear belt is easy so dont believe the dealers no body off required.
If i were charging out to customer approx £360 inc to change both belts and the front belt idlers. Take half a day. I have the full setting kit and full diagnotics.
Regards Gav

Sealey kit. Only one that covers all tdv6 applications and has the smaller checking pin.
