for what a pump costs vs damage if it breaks it's madness not to change it to the latest version with the belts IMHOPete

Tensioners and belts
I will probably get the oil pump done but Land Rover advice is that its is for Vins between 8A457086 to 9A508509 of after 9A510122 on another part number as mine is earlier than either of those it would indicate no issues. Could this be just unnecessary and its been spread around to put fear in everyone. I have a Porsche Cayenne as well and if i listened to everything i would be rebuilding whole cars. Thoughts?
If you are going to keep the Disco it is IMHO axiomatic that you should fit the latest oil pump, both for peace of mind, and as a new oil pump will perform better than an old one.

if you are spending nearly 600 quid getting the belts done £130 for a new pump plus some extra labour doesn't seem bad for piece of mind, of course it'll have had the stress of a belt replacement twice after as well.........Pete

It's all 1 part.
The internal side is for moving oil around the engine.
Part of the exterior is used as a mount of the belt tensioner.
The mount and surrounding area is the issue as it can crack after a belt change and snap off.
If it snaps off, it's a new engine.
New engines cost more than £130 and a bit of labour.
