"Camera System Fault"

I have had a "Camera System Fault" appear on the dash today after starting up.
Its a 2010 but 2011MY Discovery 4 HSE with 360 surround cameras. Reversing camera does nothing, and when I press cameras from the main screen "Cameras" nothing happens. Never had any previous issues. I have cleared the fault code with a IID Gap tool, but the error just came back again. Not used the D4 for about a week, and other than a wash at the weekend it has been good. any ideas please on what to look at first.? Thx Dave

“Wash at the weekend”.....did you use a pressure washer ?
That’s the culprit sometimes, and I’ve found it comes back on its own.....I try and avoid pressure washers for that very reason...just one possibility Thumbs Up

Thanks

Yes it was pressure washed, but only a battery operated one. I left the Mrs doing it whilst I took a phone call for 1/2 hour so who knows where she pointed it Embarassed

Perhaps I will see if it corrects itself after some sunshine and warm weather.

Thanks
Dave

Mine has come back in as little as 20 minutes, but also took 2 weeks once as I’d obviously got a bit “enthusiastic” Laughing
A chafed wire was also a previous culprit, but hopefully it just needs to dry out Thumbs Up

Sadly a few weeks on, and despite lots of dry weather and sunshine the "Camera System Fault" still
remains. Could I ask please where you found your chafed wire?

I have checked fuse 31, and 65 which I believe controls the camera system, but they tested OK.

I understand the control module sits under the passenger seat, with connections coming from all cameras, power and CANbus signals. Would anyone know if I unplugged each camera in turn, would it likely point me to the camera with an issue. This is presuming that the IPMB camera control module is not faulty itself.

Thx

A unserviceable camera won’t cause that issue. Have a look at the green connector on the module to see if it’s still fitted. Occasionally a rear seat passenger can damage the plugs.

I did eventually today get time to check the green connector on the module, and all was in place as intended. I noticed in the wiring diagram Fuse 65 feeds the green wire on the green connector, so I also checked this for a live feed and it measured 12.18v so that must be OK.

Whilst there, there are some blocks attached to the top of the module (see pic) that directly link to some of the camera ports, would these be filters that have been fitted in the past to resolve camera issues?

At this point I suspect the module would be the most likely culprit of this fault, would you agree that there is not much else to check?

Many thanks
Dave

Yes, those are the repair filters that were used by LR to fix the known camera issue.

Many thanks for that, it appears they only used the filters on certain cameras and not all of them.

Regards

Just an update if anyone else has the same issue.

I managed to find a replacement surround camera control module at
a breakers for £100 delivered.

5 minute fit, and everything is back to normal.

Thanks all for your help.

Dave
