sorry for possible boring compressor question, but I have searched this forum and others and cant find a simple answer to a simple question... my 2006 D3 has the new version AMK replacement EAS pump in since 2013, only 30,000 km ago, and is now starting to throw faults, raising slowly etc. Can anyone tell me if the air drier in this can be serviced, ie silica dried out, as per old hitachi, and if so, is it likely to cure anything.?
The car is fairly new to me, but was previously owned by a wealthy and somewhat OCD owner (no offence Mark ) who looked after it incredibly well, 6-monthly servicing by date, all at main dealers. But it was used by Mrs Mark for daily short trips around town, hence pump probably not lasting that well.
Its going for a service at a good indie in March, where I will get it properly diagnosed, but want to know if I have to get ready for a new pump or if I can save it or extend its life with a bit of TLC. Pump functions quietly and having had the cover off is absolutely mint to look at, not clogged with mud or even getting that hot, it just battles to raise up sometimes and gives the yellow light and message.
Going on a big trip in April and dont want to be worrying about this
thanks in advance lads

I've yet to see a service kit for an AMK.
I'd start with the spray bottle of soapy water to look for leaks.

Yeah you can service the drier on the new AMK compressor, ie dry out or change the silica. I had problems with a partially seized exhaust valve on mine, so it was just venting off and not building pressure. I stripped it down, cleaned everything and replaced the silica, been fine since.

Hi Dude15,
When you cleaned your AMK compressor did you use silca granules from a repair kit for the earlier Hitachi pump ?

Would desperately like to know how you stripped it down. I can’t find instructions anywhere I have a piston repair kit etc from i6 but don’t know how to disassemble. HELP!!!!
