Thanks for all your suggestions.
Still no joy!
What are 'Jesus Clips'?
I can't find and reference to them let alone a picture.
I haven't had a chance to call Dan at Duckworth yet, I'll try calling him tomorrow.
I'm beginning to think that these clips are only on that terrain response panel.
The 'standard' one mentioned is used extensively on the dash board panels, but the 4 on that panel seem to be unique to that panel.
Another 'funny' is the plastic plate that makes up the hole in the rear cross member to take a UK/European 12S socket.
People don't realise it's there because it fits so well but if you have a car that has never been 'tow enabled' you will see that the left hole is far bigger and the 3 screws on the socket don't match with any of the one's there!
This is NOT a part Land Rover sell separately for some reason!
Anybody got one spare?
Yes I could make one up out of a bit of mild steel plate but it will rust because of the salt and sh*t thrown up at the back of the car.
The rear cross member rusts quite well!
You maybe lucky enough to find a couple! and they ping off and down
Hi Pete
Yes I had a good look around in the black void, but nothing.
I was going to take thew remaining one off to photograph it but they don't come off easily believe me, so why have three 'escaped'?
Ian
I popped into the dealer nearby this morning, they looked for it on their system and like my copy it's not there. The salesman was somewhat unhelpful and didn't have any idea on what to do next.
Maybe time to start looking for a way to make the panel stay in place?

Hi
I had the same problem - 2 clips missing when I removed the terrain selector panel. Had a fish around down the holes below the clip recesses with a magnet on a stick and pulled out the missing clips. It must be a common problem loose clips...
I couldn't see the clips before putting the magnet down, but came up lucky. Got 6p in loose change too. It's not often that you are better off after working on a Disco 3 when you finish the job.

Hi Pete
Thanks for doing that.
So either Land Rover or the manufacturer of that panel, believe that the clips can't come off otherwise I'm sure they would be happy to make money out of us poor sods that have missing clips!
Tried the magnet, but sadly the clips are made of a spring steel with high chromium content and aren't particularly magnetic! No money there either!
So I am now on the lookout for a terrain response panel.
Ian
pity they're not the "standard" ones. I must have at least half a dozen you can have … rattling round in the void behind the steering wheel. Of course, you'd have to find the s first.
Oh if only they were the 'standard' clip!
Why oh why do manufacturers alway put different clips where 'standard' ones would do?
I can see no way to modify the existing plastic moulding to accept 'standard' ones, mores the pity.
Ian
RPS … they look symmetrical whilst it seems the clips required are not.
Ian … I know it's very low tech fix but as it's not seen would bluetack be a solution ? should hold well enough to prevent rattling and will allow removal in the future if required.

1. Jesus, where has that clip gone ?!
2. Jesus, how much to replace one !!
I think we are getting there!
I risked 'loosing' the one remaining clip to take photos of it.
I hope that makes things clearer.
To push the tang of the clip out it sits on a plastic lug that you can just see. This pushes it out enough to 'grip' the housing on the centre console.
The console has little bits of felt stuck on so it is a smooth fit, i.e. not metal against plastic which could make it difficult to release.
Any m ore ideas before I try and fin d a cheap second hand terrain panel

I'm in contact with James at GoS.
They are really helpful, but as I am in France right now I can't just pop down there!
Come May that is what I'm going to do, in the meantime James is sourcing a few other bits I need.
