Can the fan be replaced by an electric one ?

Hi,

Does anyone know if the fan can be replaced by an elecric one on a Discovery 3 ? I removed the fan from my old Disco 2 and it was a fantastic mod - I never needed the electric fan and it was much quieter.

Any advise would be great

Thanks

Bantie

Don't think it can as the viscous one is also electric, and linked in to the aircon system IIRC!

Sounds like your D2 viscous unit was US TBH.

Apart from startup, the viscous units are very efficient - Kenwood electric fan claims are b Censored lls

And of course the above applies too. Thumbs Up

The answer is No!

Here is the answer I got from Kenlowe.

"The TDV6 engine is a rare example where the viscous unit should not be removed and replaced with an electric fan. This is because sensors are connected to the unit and are in turn connected to the vehicles ECU system with regard to fuel and air mixture."
