When you have a turbo on a diesel quite a lot of people drive gentle so chokes up give a short blast down m/way 3rd gear full revs see the amount of crap coming out of exhaust, engine seems to always go better after..
That's not going to help with these turbos, it's the VVT actuators that are seizing up, the actual turbo is fine.
That'll be what wrong with it then LRs are a fond memory, apart from the maintenance.

That's already been done on mine, twice, however that didn't last long. Also if the giggle pin seizes it snaps something in the servo (or was it the solenoid) gizmo. New turbos are supposed to be better lubricated in that area, time will tell.

DSL is the body still off yours? Some pics of the installed turbo would be good from the side and above. I'm trying to see where the actuator link is when viewed through the wheel arch, in an attempt to get some penetrating oil on to it. Previously:

Hi Landiste,
I had my turbo replaced about 18 months ago, to fix a loss of power I experienced. The dealer said he could not say for sure whether the loss of power was due to a faulty turbo, but we had tried all other options he could think of (EGR, Air Mass Sensor)
However, after changing the Turbo (at an independent, who charged 40% less than dealer), there was no power increase.
I kept the turbo that came off the car as a spare for future use. However I will be selling the car next week so I will not need it anymore. It should be ok, but refurbishing costs approx 200 euro's (quote from specialised firm).
If you are still after a turbo, you might be interested. Just pm me if so.
It is off a 2005 Disco3 TDV6.

Not sure penetrating oil is the answer, as that will free things up but then leave them dry. A solvent/cleaning spray (gun cleaner might be worth considering), allow everything to dry then applying a light application of a high melting point grease might be more appropriate?I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

Both used however, and also dont mention overseas postage...
Dont know if TLO ships overseas, but got to be worth an Email. The one he will supply will be the most up to date one, which in theory, should never give you problems again (as DSL will hope )My D3 Build Thread
