On second thoughts maybe not - it may just slide up on top of the crust and be stuck on its belly then.
Curiously though, did you set it to the Mud Ruts setting. Snow Grass and Gravel setting doesn't work in deeper snow, something to do with gear ratios used in that setting I think.Life is what you make it.

A reduction in throttle response... ie less power to start with.
Might have worked setting it to Sand and flooring it... doubt the crust would have held the D3 if you rose over it.

If you can't find a suitable Terrain Response setting arsi, maybe this item will help.
Might be a wee bit chillier then the D3 though!!

* first ran a bearing (design failure in original engine)
* second had a failure of the water outlet on top of the engine (pls check yours)

I tried Snow/Grass and Gravel first and then Mud and Ruts and even Rock Crawl. With Snow/Grass and Gravel I was able to steer, with the other settings the car was unsteerable in deep snow when the difflocks engaged.
I should have had snowchains. Standard studded wintertyres were not the best in that conditions.
