Can you replace the starter motor at the same time.....
as replacing all the three belts... reason being, stealer want an extra 1.5hours for fitting a new one whilst changing the belts
just wanted to clarify me facts/times before negotiating with them

The time for doing the cambelt include remove & refit starter motor to fit crank locking tool.

as I suspected, I assume the complete starter motor is a plug in and play situation

Probably the guy who quoted you the 1.5 hours just looked in the manual and saw that replacing a starter motor takes 1.5 hours, not knowing that the starter motor has to come out anyway.
So yes challenge them.Roel

i think that they never remove the starter while doing the belt and just want to be paid for that

Hi,
When doing the belts the starter is unbolted from the engine & moved forwards with the wiring attached, not removed completely, so a small additional time should be allowed to unbolt wiring & remove..... but no where near 1.5hrs.

sorted, 0.2 of an hour, and I get £70 back for the old starter motor
