I have today tried to get a VenturaCam working with my D4. On receiving the camera I noted that on the box the Land rover label had the frequency of 433 MHz. So having this information and using my MSV2 I activated the option in the CCF for the VenturaCam. After waiting 20 mins for the car to recognise the changes I had made I restarted the car. I then went to the 4x4 options and found the Icon for the venturaCam. I turned the camera on by holding in the oval button so that the green light was flashing on and off. I believe that this is the way you get the satnav/telephone module to pair with the VenturaCam using Bluetooth. I have managed to charge the VenturaCam by using the two gold connectors on the back of it. All lights on the camera Green / Red torch light work on the camera. This for me indicated that the VenturaCam had a good enough charge. Unfortunately for me no camera image was displayed. I know that there are two wire connections coming out of the back of the sat nav unit as mentioned by Wiggs. I also know that when the camera is recognised by the Satnav unit it will display the battery charge. So the question is do you need the Venturacam docking station (this would normally be in the glove box on a FFRR) for the satnav / Bluetooth system to recognise the unit for the first time?
Interestingly if I go into the screen diagnostics using the secret screen under the video diagnostics it shows that the Companion Cam is not connected all be it that the VenturaCam menu options are available. Any help would be appreciated. Thank You. Thumbs Up

You need the docking station .

This is also the receiver which gets the wireless picture ( over Bluetooth ) and then sends it by cable to the screen

Needs to be connected into the canbus system aswell

Thank you Wiggs for the quick and excellent response. Bow down May I ask one other question? Do you know if the canbus wires connect to the medium speed can bus or the high speed can bus? Does it matter? I assume that the other wires would just be a positive and a negative supply. I think that this may be a can do modification as long as the docking station / receiver from the donor FFRR can talk to the D4. As I converted my D4 GS to use the XS sat nav system I have a couple of unused canbus wires. In fact I have two canbus wires that were used on my old D4 Nokia telephone module. That would allow me to put the docking station in the boot. Now need to search the scrap yards for a docking station.
Thanks Wiggs appreciate your help. Thumbs Up

I will have a look at the wiring diagram and let you know

You will need to get a docking station out of a 2009/ 2010 vehicle as I believe the can bus rate is different on the earlier models

Which Wires to use

Hi wiggs,
Hi Phillw,

Did you ever manage to connect the venture docking station? I want to try it with my RRS SC '07.
I should be able to connect the Dock with the wires from behind the Glovebox.

12v and ground should not be a problem (hope so). But which colors are the CAN Bus wires? As i could read somewhere (dont remember where) i have to connect it with the diagnostic CAN bus?

i am thankfull for any hint

regards from Switzerland

Hi Marcel,
I did not do this as I could not get hold of a docking station at a reasonable price. In my D4 GS when I retrofitted the satnav there was some canbus connections I did not need to use with the new (XS/HSE) satnav screen. The HSE/XS utilises the MOST bus where as the GS does not. So my intention was to use two canned bus wires (from the LCD screen) coming from the original GS wiring. It was either using those two wires or two from the nokia phone module (which I had to change) and locate the ventura camera in the rear of the car. Don’t forget the Nokia phone module in the XS-HSE utilises the MOST bus. Best to look at the wiring diagrams and ensure you have a really good connection to the canned bus. Wiggs would no more about this than me. The good news is I did activate the camera in the CCF using my MSV2 and the screen (NOT the camera) appeared to work as I kind of expected it to. I don’t know if the venture camera will work but if I had to put money on it I believe it would work. Please also note as Wiggs mentioned to me you need to ensure you get the latest docking station. Something to do with the way the docking station talks to the car.

Canbus wire are Yellow in this picture.

More pics in my gallery.
Good luck.

Did not understand everything you have mentioned. But

I did already activate the venture cam option in the CCF and the menu is available at the satnav
I have a venture docking station. How can i check if it will work with my 2007 RRS? Is there a number to verify?
I also have a venture cam

I will soon have the fakra cable to connect the satnav with the docking station.

I want to try to connect the docking station with 12v, ground and can bus pair behind the lower glovebox.

Problem is: i have no wire diagram so i have no clue how i can find the can pair cable. I will try to find a yellow pair as you have mentioned.

I know this is the disco forum and i have an older RRS. but until now I was not able to find any person who was trying to connect the docking module.

Regards
Marcel

On the Venture Dock i connected the following Pins:

Pin 1: ground (its also connected internal with Pin 8 )
Pin 3: Medium speed CAN BUS High (Yellow White)
Pin 4: battery 12V
Pin 7: Medium speed CAN BUS low (Yellow Blue)

But....the Cam is not charging. I try to configure the CCF once more. Maybe it helps Rolling Eyes
