In the US some one put a series III 109 wagon body onto a D3 keeping all the mechanicals and most of the interior, basically built the Defender that LR should have built years ago.

Wheel track on a Series is 4ft 2inch, on a D3/4 it’s 5 foot 2 and a bit!
Would need some small wheel arch extensions!
I suppose it would be possible, and would make a very interesting combo!
Serious wiring mods and ecu relocation though. As for waterproofing it all - good luck with that one!

Part of the initial D3/RRS programme was also a Defender replacement , never flew but given the chassis it was an option seriously looked at.
I am sure someone with good electronic knowhow might be able to disable various features as required

The body would be manufactured to a little wider then standard. The relation ship between the bulkhead engine and front end work out to work after parking 2 together...
Have you got a link for the build in the US? I have searched but haven't found anyone doing it.

Interesting idea!! A base coil sprung D3 could be a donor car but you would loose a lot of off road toys. An other option, don’t use a D3..... use a RRS TDV8
Of absolutely no use to you, but shows what is possible....

I looked for the link but think it was on ebay, it was based on a V8 and cosmetically looked like a puma defender. Very well done but would be illegal in most countries i would think.
