Years ago when I had my first D3 I always had a hot left foot. Turned out that the blend fans went out of sync, a dealer re-set cured the problem. Thats going back to 2005 by the way so the above may not apply now. It may be worth asking to check the sync of the blend fans if they still exist.
In the Beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

With a MY2010 will that still be a dealer issue or has anyone the location of that hot sensor fora DIY climate cabin?

Hi Barber
I haven't had this done this fix yet. From the various updates on this issue on several different topics on this forum, some people have said it works and many people have said it hasn't.
I think it would be a good idea to see what circumstances/settings etc the issue happens from the people with it and what has worked /hasn't worked for them. I'm not convinced we all have the same problem although the symptoms (cold car) are the same. I have even seen a report of a FBH being replaced fixing it. I intend to trawl the info across the topics on the forum and try to provide some sort of summary. We can then ask some further questions like 'does it happen only when auto is on' etc to get to the bottom of this and the various fixes. Might take a bit of time.
Cheers
 Gary

Just to add numbers, I am experiencing very similar 'cold car' problems to those mentioned in this thread. Vehicle has been back to the dealer for recalibration and fitting of pad around the sensor, neither of which made any difference.

Just quickly took the value of the internal temperature sensor and it showed 31 centigrades while it clearly didn't feel like summer inside.
Does anybody know where this sensor lives or how it can be calibrated?

Having traded in a MY2015 for a MY2016 I am noticing the difference even though I've only done a few miles in the new one. In the old one I never had the temperature above 22 on this one I have it set to 28 and it's still blowing cold air onto my hands which the older one didn't Sad

Hi Donknizi

Your findings are interesting and may help us get to the bottom of things. The details of getting to the sensor are included in LTB 00963 technical bulletin which is the recommended fix. It states that a foam insulator needs to be placed around the sensor to seal between the duct behind the grill and the face of the sensor fascia. The sensor is behind the instrument panel centre finisher, which I believe is in the location of the centre pop out tray under the heater controls (maybe someone can confirm).
Not sure how it is calibrated but have heard of people saying recalibration fixed it.
Would you mind sharing how you managed to find the internal sensor temp?
Keep us informed please.

Hi Gary,

I just quickly tried to get some live values from the GAP tool und though that this value might be the right one. I will try to do it more thoroughly this evening and note the the path/menu to make sure. Also I will try to find the little fellow as I couldn't find the LTB 00963 anywhere. Clearly the FBH blows some hot air into the car in the morning but once inside and driving you will never get the "blow dryer sensation" from the air outlets again Sad

Cheers donknizi
