Can't select any gear

Hi all, my Dad has just gone to borrow my manual disco 3 while im at work and has just rung to say he can't select any gears.

I used it last night ok.

Have been having difficulty selecting reverse for some time now so have a detent circlip ready to go in.

Can this circlip going totaly cause not being able to select any gear?

Yes, if it’s come off, you won’t get anything. You may also have lost the pin or you could be lucky and it’s sitting in top of the gearbox. Bodsys Brake Bible
