Just off the A1 southbound J39, on the way into our village I pass a small quarry.
I have often wondered whether it would be worth a little drive down the track to see if there was any 'fun' to be had. You can see from the main road that the lane leading into the quarry is quite muddy with what looks like some decent sized muddy puddles.
Well.... I was going to wash the car this weekend anyway so I thought it would be a good laugh to get the car covered in mud then I could let the Karcher earn it's keep! Well it certainly did that!
You see I havn't lived in the village very long and the road that I thought led to the quarry was in fact a farm track. Well it was very muddy with big puddles as I said, so in I went with great gusto and had some great fun! I then decided after my car was totally covered to take some piccies with my camera-phone so out I got....and then it hit me. It absolutely stunk! I had been driving through lakes of liquid S**T!
The farmer obviously uses this area to dump his waste slurry!
If anyone saw me blasting through all that sh** they must have had a good laugh to themselves!
The thing is, I have washed it 3 times now and it still smells!
How long does this stuff take to wear off?
SWMBO isn't best pleased with my antics!
You can almost smell it from here can't you! Back in the game!

Good idea to get out of the car FIRST and do a quick survey of the area, then you would find areas which should be avoided because of damage/smell potential.1996 Discovery 1 300TDI ES Biarritz Blue, sold

Did this on a rally once. Sold the car!!!
Seriously, its the stuff underneath in all the nooks and crannies you have to get off, particularly near the exhaust. Find a deep ford and spend a day driving through it.
Freebie, that's what I figured. Although I have blasted it with the Karcher I need to get right underneath it to give it a proper clean.
Is it possible for some of the sh**e to have entered the interior vents?Back in the game!

if it did, it'll only be via the honeycomb scuttle trim on the LHS of the vehicle, the filter should have captured any 'lumps'
My car has certainly lost that 'New Car' smell!Back in the game!

If it smells inside, check the filter (accessed by dropping the lower glovebox) although running a hose into the scuttle trim to flush out any residue first with the ATCU set to recirculate should help
Cheers TFC.
If it still smells after a drive tomorrow will have a thorough clean-out!Back in the game!

I can't find the post but someone found that the party political fodder got firmly wedged into the rear door seals and created a bad permanent stink, right by where the rear arches are. I seem to recall that the advice was; open the doors and get yer finger in there and scrape it all out.
If anyone can remember giving such advice, can you please fill in the blanks in the above? Or find that elusive post?
Dr. Ian Malcolm:
"Yeah, but your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn't stop to think if they should."
Transgenic tomato anyone?
Stapldm,
Cheers mate.
Saw that crap in the door seals and have cleaned it out. Both rear doors and to a lesser extent the front door seals were full of cack! I remember that post too now you mention it!Back in the game!

Rear door seal rubbers - yes they definitely do hold a lot of err... "mud". I used to open the door & very carefully point the pressure washer in there! * beware * it will fly back in your face!!
Long time ago I posted some pics of my old one parked by the sea - in a foot or so depth of scummy froth.
6 months later the car still stank of rotting fish underneath. couldn't smell it inside though.
I spent about 2 hours pressure washing the underside.
Good luck!Long succession of Disco's since 2001...
