Chaffing Rear Lightguards

Just noticed that my rear lightguards are fouling the tailgate!!!.
It's chipped the paint on the lower OS tailgate and chaffing on the upper NS tailgate.
Parts are genuine LR and dealer fitted [though bought second hand via ebay].
Cann't even tap with a hammer as the brackets are touching the rear lamp cluster.
Fit seems very/too close ... anybody else have this problem?

Haven't got them on mine ronp, but the tailgates on mine are not positioned exactly central, so if I did, I guess the guards would probably touch in places. Are yours dead in centre,ie equal gaps either side? Other than that, if you loosen the screws that hold the rear clusters on, can the clusters / guards be moved outboard slightly so they don't chafe tailgates? Rolling Eyes

Glynne, I'd try and do a trial fitment if you can, to see if they touch, before you drill holes in your D3. Wink

Shouldn't be a problem so long as you are careful to install with a clearance gap. This is the problem with dealer fit, they never take as much care as somebody fitting parts to their own vehicle.

Its a near thing. SIMKNA's right - do it yourself and you get an optimum fit.

Got them on mine (dealer fitted) and I haven't had the problem. Having changed the rear brake light bulbs I notice you have to spend a bit of time lining them up properly, when you put the guards back, or you could cause some damage.
