I thought about keeping BB - but it's not just the 2K difference. You've got the 3rd service, MOT + costs, new warranty/LRA cost. By the time it all added up she was getting a tad expensive to keep Disco 5 HSE Lux

Richard will also have those costs on an ex-HA D3 with many more miles too.
I have to say, and I am touching wood when I say this, I am now 10mths out of warranty, on nearly 110k miles, and the only major cost this year has been the 105k service which was £600.
Will be needing some new tyres soon, missed a set on ebay this morning, got out bid by 4p They went for £440.99, 4 brand spanking Scorps on FFRR rims

That's true, but a 2nd hand HSE from LR would have warranty cover + service/mot completed. Or a newish private one, for that matter.
It's not an easy choice - I know just what Rich is going through Disco 5 HSE Lux

The difference between what you paid for an 18mth old (? I think) HSE, and what a HA D3 could be got for will pay for an awful lot of repairs and servicing though.
It all boils down to peace of mind about your car. I am favouring the older car route because I do not totally rely on my D3 for everyday transport anymore, I have a cheap little run around to use. Although I do find it very hard to walk past the D3 in the morning and get into the Fiat Even if it does save a fortune in fuel.

Very true. It's an individual choice. My D3 is everything to me - everyday car, child transport and offroad fun. Something reliable/comfortable was a must Disco 5 HSE Lux

I like the idea of the ex-HA cheapness .....but I still can't get away from the thought that at 220,000 miles the wheels will have gone around 145,200,000 times 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

Ok, so it might need a couple of wheel bearings and a set of tyres, no big deal

Difficult one ...hard to know what period of idling has occured and even when you are on the move I dont know what speed you have been doing in what gear.
More interestingly , how many times has your right indicator blinked

Dunno, but my rear left indicator bulb blew last week, so obviously I turn left more often
