Open the driver's door and the rear door on same side. Look around the area at the bottom of the B pillar where it joins the sill. Look 30cm fore and aft of the centre line on the base of the B pillar. That's the area in question. Won't need a ramp to check it.I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

Its more likely to be the sill floor pan area directly below where your talking about. You will probably need to look under the car to see it.

Front seat belts don't mount directly to the body, They mount to the seats so I wonder how they measure it. Corroded area within 30cm of seat mounting or within 30cm directly to the seatbelt anchorage on the seat?Stu

huh ^^? the belt mounts to the body (not the chassis) which is where the retractor and pre-tensioner is. The other end is as you say, is attached to the seat. Presumably where the retractor is is where they have identified corrosion. They must have spotted that from underneath as they wouldn't have pulled back the interior trim to check the mountings surely?

Fair point, I had discounted the retractor thinking it was mounted higher up the B pillar too far away from the sills to be within 30cm but it may well be within that distance.Stu

That looks bad. Its a bit difficult to see the extent in that picture, but if its full length of the sill it could be very tricky to repair.
BTW, It looks like thats a picture from a youtube clip, you can copy the address of the clip direct to your post on here, then we can see all the gory detail!

To all those now panicking, go out and buy two tins of aerosol chain/wire lube grease and using one tin per side spray inside the sills via the drain slits along the entire length.
It will drip out onto you but it will stop any rust dead in its tracks.

Absolutely bricking it ......
For those, like myself, blessed with an ignorance of mechanical knowledge, any chance of some pics with arrows to show where to spray the stuff?
And advice on where to get the stuff?
And maybe a pic of the stuff to help us identify it? Too many types of ‘lube’ out there, and I’m not sure the ones I’m familiar with are suitable for the application we are talking about

Gareth, it is a still from the dealer health check video....bit much info on for posting generally and no idea now to edit it to just that bit!
I am properly in shock that it wasn't noticed until now as it must been getting worse for years .I worried about the bit below the rear tow point but this is in a different league of degradation.end of an era ....... maybe a Defender when it appears.......
