Material we ordered for the lean too ended up being "DAYGLO" orange instead of the G4 orange we wanted Back to hunting the internet "Your mind is like a parachute! It will only function when open"!

Does anyone from the G4 side of life know what colour the G4 orange actually is? Blokes would see it as orange but woman may call it something else if you know what I mean "Your mind is like a parachute! It will only function when open"!

Made a telephone call to Kyham today to see if they had any of the nylon that they used for the G4 igloo tents they made and found out some interesting information.
Apparently Kyham went bust a couple of years ago as a result of the contract to Land Rover to produce the G4 tents Conditions where in place to make sure that Land Rover where the sole owners of the rights to "ALL" materials used in the making of the tents etc and there was a legal battle as a result with Khyam coming off worse and hence going bust. The Landrover Colour for the G4 is indeed Tangiers Orange
With regards to Kyham, that's not actually completely accurate. Landrover own the trademarks and copyright to the Landrover Brand and G4 Brand......also, Kyham were contracted NOT to use the G4 Orange material in other tents, again to maintain the exclusivity of the G4 brand...
Them going bust was nothing directly to do with Landrover as only about 200 (ish) G4 Igloo tents were manufactured......
Eurotech (a Polish firm) owned Kyham and a number of other outdoor brands......

I spoke with these guys today http://www.khyam.co.uk/ and the lad gave me a brief on what he knew and why the material couldn't be sourced as per your above info about G4 brand. It appears they can't even make tents without logos in the same orange Ah well back to the drawing board "Your mind is like a parachute! It will only function when open"!
It was all specially made for Kyham to make the Igloo's for the challenges, we can't even get material so we can repair damaged tents and we are the sanctioned G4 Owners Club....
You might try Vango who made the Vango Hurricane 200 tents for the 2009 challenge as they may have some material, but you may run into the same issue of use outside of the contract.G4OC Secretary

Guys,
finally from concept to production and use via sourcing of the right type of material, although not quite the same colour as I wanted
Anyway all the material came on Friday and after me cutting templates wife set about making it into something that was useable
Saturday morning saw us off to the lakes to see how our new awning set up was going to work. As far as use for sun shade it was second to none to be honest and the awning fitted way better than we both expected it would ever do
Anyway have a look at the photos and see what you think?
