Cheap fix for broken catch on lower glove box (Pics inc.)

So I figured if I had to replace the whole glove box I may as well have a go at a fix first. Nothing to lose if I wreck it Laughing
Not sure if this has been done before, I didn't find anything readily so just waded in.

Took my Aldi version of a Dremmel (worth it's weight in gold - nearly) and cut the nub thing that sits behind the right side of the catch. Tried this with a Stanley knife but too tough.
Then drilled a small hole as there was nothing to attach anything to.
Drilled another hole above the section I'd cut out initially.
Then threaded a cable tie through the whole loop and bingo!

It's not perfect but feels okay for 20mins effort. I used a red tie for pics but will replace with black when I find one, then I will glue the nub think back in and it should be pretty invisible. May try and source some thing stretchy (rubber or spring) rather than a cable tie to give it a slightly better feel too. I'm sure others will or have more elaborate/effective solutions - please share below.

Hope this help someone who's after a cheap fix, and goes a small way to paying my dues on this site.

Pics -
