you will see a small (2mpg possibly) improvement if you drive like an 80 year old.
it will improve the responsiveness. the biggest two benefits for me were :
1) no lag when accelerating from a start
2) no kick down from 6th to 5th when accelerating at motorway speeds Duncan

I agree with Discodunc, not much change in mpg on my manual D3 either, but a D3 is not bought to achieve record mpg ?

ref chips
i have a pro-bitz box on my 08/d3 auto, driving normally(whatever that is) i average around 32.5 solo, went to norfolk a few weeks ago 6 adults plus a few bags, averaged 34.6 cruising at 70 on m/way plus some b roads.on way back showed 34.2 in loads of traffic(m11/m20)the main reason for fitting it was extra torque when towing tin tent, went to north devon from kent averaged 19-20mpg,fitted chip before return over same route got 22.5 so was happy.
the torque and acceleration are really noticable( as is the economy if you want it)
they are on ebay for about £100,you get a 30 day trial if not happy you send it back.fitting to the "my" engine is easy as the plug is now near the dipstick, on my last d3(2006)the plug was at the top/middle of the engine compartment at the back,it was a bit fiddly took about 20 mins.
cheers

get a proper remap, not a box. boxes can only overfuel. There's one wheel on my wagon, but i'm still rollin' along, it's the cherokee, they're after me, but I'm singing a happy song

I have a PBox that you can have for a small consideration. I had it installed by the supplying dealer to improve low down torque and mpg. It worked a treat and i only removed it just before i was about to sell the car - which i didn't!
They claim 20% more power and 20% more torque.
If anyone s interested in it pm me. Donation to site if sold.

Hi, I am new on this, but I am using here the TDC Power Box Plus. This is just a plug & play on the Common Rail sensor. Here in Brazil, I don't know if the diesel is not as good as yours I did get a good fuel savings on this chip. It worth the try and does not turn on any lights or codes. You have to adjust until it cuts of the rpm, then down 1 click, that is the way I am doing here and I did got a good horsepower too.
Regards,
Mauro

Neil, you tosser, that's what DiscoDunc said - put a remap in and get better MPG - so logically, take it off and it gets worse.
You have to spell it out to BMW drivers Mark.
