How to clean the engine bay
Hi,
I am looking to clean my engine bay - it's covered in mud etc. I want to be able to do this on a regular basis. has anyone got any suggestions of the best way of doing this?
I am thinking steam cleaner, but I don't know if that's recommended or not? If it is does anyone have any suggestions on what one to get?
Thanks

Or try a search for +engine +clean to see a few more threads I believe that every human has a finite number of heart-beats. I don't intend to waste any of mine running around doing exercises.

If you can make it look like that without using a steam cleaner, then you can save your money and buy some other toys
I'm sure jkp will be happy to sell you the products to get a similar result I believe that every human has a finite number of heart-beats. I don't intend to waste any of mine running around doing exercises.

Not tried steam, I wonder if the seals would like that or not. I find that a spray-on engine grime cleaner helps tremendously in the hard to reach places, let it sit then hose it off and all clean I'm not so good at giving advice...may I offer you a sarcastic comment instead?

Just watch out for getting water down behind the battery if you're using a hose or jet-wash, there are some very sensitive electrical connectors down there that send the car into "Loopy mode" if they get wet Clive

Once you cover the engine with the APC, agitate with a soft brush to loosen up the hard to get to bits then either hose or pressure wash off. Just dont go mental with the PW. Your more looking for a rinse than to blast dirt off.

Well I did try the APC route and results were reasonable. To be fair 1, I didn't have much APC. 2, I didn't hose it off I just used a jug of water 3, I did remember to agitate it with a brush. However overall the engine bay was much cleaner. As the weather gets warmer I'll give it a decent go. Probably after Hogmoor.D3 HSE MY05 Auto
