Cleaning after going off road

Hi,

I'm a newbie to the whole offroad thing. Took the D3 out over the weekend and got it pretty muddy. Question is, how important is it to clean all the mud off the underside of the car? Is this something I should do each time I take it offroad or not?

Thanks,

Here's what could happen if you don't http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/topic11652.html

TBH...it's always worth inspecting the underside after each outing Wink

Even if you do clean it, I guarantee at some point several months down the line you'll find yourself under the car removing a panel and thinking "hmmm, that looks like Salisbury Plain"

I'm going to be popping the panel off my compressor this weekend as I have a sneaking suspicion DG isn't the only one with this affliction Whistle
I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

What is most damaging is the grit and stones. I have done radio surveys in the English China Clay (ECCI now Imerys) open mines in Cornwall. This is obviously very extreme, but they used to replace the brake pads every week and the discs about once a month!

This is because the fine clay would wear the parts down.

I will always get a pressure washer under the car as soon as I can and make sure all moving parts have the crud removed.

Regards

Chris
