Cleaning inside Compressor Cover

Hi All,
Whilst changing the wheels around yesterday I said I would take off the compressor cover and clean inside.
Took off the two bolts holding it to the back of the cover. Then went to take off the bolt holding the cover underneath and with the first twist it sheered off and was left with a bolt head and rubber washer in my hand. To my knowledge the cover had never been off before so it must have been over tightened day one.
Does it matter if this bolt is missing?as cleaned out cover, clipped it on and put back the two retaining bolts to the rear. I was going to drill out the sheered bolt and drop down a bolt into it and replace with a nut from the bottom. Is there any need as it looks as if the cover wont stir anyhow but if it was going to draw in more dirt I would put a bolt in it. If no need then I will leave well enough alone. Any advice?

Same thing happened to me last weekend.
I don't really think that the cover needs the center bolt.
I drilled it out anyway and replaced it with a M6.
