Clear stone chip guard

I've noticed the rear wheel arches are getting quite peppered on the trim to the rear doors. Has anyone ever bought any of the clear vinyl, cut it to shape and applied? I've replaced factory applied vinyl before with pre cut material. Any thoughts?
