I have just bought a GAP IIDBT & would be happy to read your codes once it gets here to help build my experience using it. I too have suspension faults for its first use.

Hi Prof,

I've been looking at readers today, but I want one to cover the D4 as well, so the one you mentioned looks about the one I'll head for.

I learnt a long time ago crystal ball diagnostics don't work.

Until I get one, hopefully next week (payday v's Christmas), was hoping for atleast a month or 2 before problems as this was bought to replace a........... forgive me here, a L200 pickup as the bottom ends collapsed on that, not my finest month December.

Yes, a mitsubishi. Bought to move muck only. And do I regret venturing away from a disco and trailer.

Ideally I want a reader that does all ovals and jags due to a D4, D3 and my daughter wanting a F1 and I fancying a jaguar xf for motorway stuff (spare engine for me bus with tax) Rolling with laughter

I'm just outside Mold and have diagnostics if you need help

Hi Gents,
(Dimcandle/Justme/Classic Kev)

Thank you for the offer guys, really really appreciated, it truly is.
Due to work, I wont be home for the next couple of weeks, back in the South West (England) with work, but to give Lipstick credit where its due, 200 mile dash south wasn't that bad, considering it's sat on it's front bump stops Question Question Question Question Good old Disco's, still comfy when broken. Just not sure how a truck with no suspension is comfier than a L200 with working suspension Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing

Gonna get the truck on some timbers this weekend and have a good look at the underside to see if i can find any obvious damage/mechanical failures.

This is going to sound stupid Whistle
Could this no suspension thing, be in any way linked to the steering angle sensor failure Question Question This too will be getting investigated this weekend, to see if its the plastickie thingy mabobbie spinning on the column or if its actual sensor failure.
All it is, I don't want to be messing around underneath, if it will spring back into life after I've sorted the SAS doo'hicky Shocked Shocked

Because after'all, the compressor is for all intentional purposes working, it makes noise, and dumps air every now and then, so that parts operating in a fashion and there's no obvious air leaks that i can hear. so gonna be looking at those ride height link doohickeys and loose sensor cables.

hi having just repaired my pals eas with help from the prof ,
its is actually very simple once you understand how it works , its not like a shop compressor where it maintains a pressure in the galley (pipes) all the time,

the gap tool has live data (which makes it worth the money imo) and you can follow the eas on the graph as it works and very likely spot the issue, live galley pressure as well , you dont even need the gap tool with your vin they work plenty well for this repair on another vin , unless you need to calibrate the eas

not sure where u are but im south coast uk so41 and willing to help if u need it, have gap tool and am tool

the eas it what make the d3 great i wouldnt want to go to coils , this is how you can see it working to understand whats going on

Mambo, if is is just the front end down I would be tempted to look at the valve which is behind the wheel arch liner of the offside front wheel. See below.

The green pipe is essentially the air feed from the tank. The black pipes are the feeds for the left and right of the car. In theory if you pop off the black pipes and stick a valve on the end you can pump up the air bags - this is what emergency inflation valves are for. I assume you can buy them on ebay.

Not the best view but you can sort of see the valve and pipes in this pic, hanging down just the the left of the intercooler.

Hope that helps.

Hi Kev,

Thank you so much for that, Its nice to see what i'm looking for, spent over an hour today hunting images and have got no where, although i did find a Haynes manual for a D3 which shocked me, never found one for a D2.

Dare i ask what your up too in the pictures, damage repair/face lift/modifying?

Looks super clean body wise.

No worries, happy to help where I can.

As to what I was doing well, if you have time for a little read, I have a thread in the "my discovery 3" section called "my D3 journey begins" which is a blog of everything I have done to my D3 since I bought it almost exactly 12 months ago.

The photos I posted for you were when I decided to remove the front bumper so I could clean out the accumulated rubbish around the intercooler and very worthwhile it was too. Have a butchers see what you think.

Just about to make a post re all the codes & issues my new purchase has & how it was fixed by re calibrating the steering angle sensor.

So not stupid at all.
