Simon - Thanks, I will listen for sound tomorrow, if it is cold enough. Can't see any smoke coming out.

That explains the diesel smell the other morning whilst I had it on program to defrost the screen.

Kuwait 2005 LR3 4.4 V8 HSE Auto Adriatic BlueLR3

I have the V8 engine and there is something weird with the temperature, the engine needs idling more than 25 minutes to reach the normal running temperature, and if I start and drive... guess what? it will never reach the normal temperature Shocked Shocked
The temperature gauge is always almost 1/4 on cruising speeds and I feel a loss of performance and heater not heating when it's running cold, see the pic below (cruising speed).

I dropped the car yesterday at the dealer to find out the problem, with another (low coolant level) faulty sensor and engine oil leak Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad

Enhancement?

I didn't even know I had an auxiliary heater until yesterday. There wasn't any smell this morning though.

If you're inside the vehicle you shouldn't get the smell (unless you've got a window open Rolling Eyes ) there was a TSB to recify this issue and it was subsequently rolled into the VEP. I don't get any diesel smell in the cabin when the FBH is operating since I had the fix

If you press the program button then the FBH comes on as well. The heater will only come on somewhere below 4 degrees dependant on car temp sensor.

The burnt diesel fumes smell is normal as it starts up because the program mode puts the heater blower on full and the screens, mirrors etc.

As you are stood still, this means the cab heater inlet pulls in some of the fumes.

Strangely my RRS will start and run first time at 0 or lower but if it's in garage between 4 and 6 degrees, then it starts, cuts out, starts, cuts out then starts and runs. Any other temp it runs OK.

TSB LA412-002

Summary: A customer may report a concern of an odor inside the vehicle after starting a cold engine in cold ambient temperatures (i.e. less than 5°C).

Cause: The heating system recirculation flaps do not close until after the auxiliary heater has started, allowing the odor to enter the vehicle.

Action: Should a customer express concern regarding the above, refer to the Service Procedure detailed in this bulletin to update the control module software.

Pelyma, the enhancement is supposed to automatically close the recirculation flaps when (or slightly before) the FBH is activated, the indicator on the recirc control isn't illuminated when this happens...
I suggest you get your dealer to re-apply that part of the enhancement Wink
