Cold Mornings

Tyro question here, as the D3 arrives shortly & its getting cold now that winters finally here. My D2ES has heated seats, which warm up fairly quickly, heated w'screen ditto, but the engine (TD5) takes an age to warm up. About 5 miles before the interior actually starts to feel warm. Always been like this, since new.

Does the D3 TD6 HSE warm up any quicker ?

Just curious really, our other cars generally warm up by the lane end 1/2 mile away.

yep, much quicker, as it has a fuel burning heater to help bring the temp up faster, so its not reliant on just engine temp to provide the heat.

Yes. Seats are particularly good. The Screen is average, the engine has the Webasto FBH to help it warm up quickly.

Takes around 1.5 - 2miles of slow (30mph) driving on back roads to start getting some proper heat in mine.

I have just had my first couple of mornings when the temp has been 4 degrees or lower. I can no longer tell if the pre heater is coming on. Last year, (before the enhancement) it was obvious as there was 'smoke' coming out from under the front of the car. Now I see nothing. Warm air takes about 7 mins to come out of vents. The engine temp seems to take about 10 mins to get to half way. I cant' remember how long everything took last year. How can you tell for sure if the pre heater is working? Very Happy

Laura - best thing is to start the D3 up and then listen / look by the passenger side front wheel. You will hear a buzzing / whine from the FBH as well as see the exhaust emitting from behind the wheel inside the said wheel arch.

It does seem less noticeable than before though Shocked

Mine temp gauge starts moving after only a few mins and warm air at the same time. Still impressively fast even without having a timer fitted at silly costs.
