cold starting issue

Hi,

I was wondering if D3 have any cold/temperature sensors ?

Basically if the temperature outside is freezing the car refuses to start from cold. Once started its fine

I've changed the glow plugs, had a drop test done on the injectors and EGR's have been removed

I'm now looking a BAS auto FBH remote turn on, but was wondering if anyone had any other possible suggestions ?

thanks

Sounds glow plug related. Presumably all 6 plugs have been checked for current draw once fitted

If these are OK, it's time to check the control circuit (fuses, relays, PCM live data etc)

sorry to butt in guys but im have similar issues from cold and im about to start sorting
mine seems plug related , I want to do the current draw test with a clamp meter
ive read a link about it but im alittle confused as I hate eletricary
I know I have to have the clamp on the relevant plug wire and know where all 6 are but what tells me it is good or bad
one thing that I have in the back of my mind is , if the battery is about fubbard would it effect the efficiency of the plugs
things were so simple when I bought my first Landy ,90 na , never missed a beat
Thanks for any pointers I can get
Phil

If the battery is on its way out theres a good chance it would affect the performance of the glow plugs as they draw a fair current, yes i remember the old Defender 200TDi, -18 and it fired up like a summers day, but they were real Land Rovers.

The cold weather really shows up issues with batteries that seemed otherwise ok.
Thumbs Up

If the Gplug has failed it draws 0 Amps.

If its good, it draws around 7 Amps +

Thanks, great read. Mines booked in for a check over on Tuesday but might try checking the current before hand if time allows

Can the ECT sensor be changed ? and is it easy ?

thanks

Location of ECT can be found in this discussion https://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/ect-sensor-...Ect+sensor

Looks like a simple twist fit, if quick I suspect not too much coolant would be lost but a bleed of the system may be needed.

Advanced Factors appear to stock them. https://www.advancedfactors.co.uk/coolant-...1702-c.asp
