Collinite No. 476S Auto Wax |
|
Well I suppose everyone knows about this stuff, but if you don't and like me you used to use Auto Glym, or similar, give this a try. Absolutely amazing stuff, a damp sponge to put on, and a good micro - fibre or similar to take off. Its totally detergent proof, and evidently can last up to a year. I have just driven through an amazing storm, and the water just sheeted off, the D3 looked as if I had just polished it. Its like a mirror, oh and a little goes a long way, don't put it on with a trowel!
I couldn't find it in the shops but loads for sale on eBay. A mate of mine who restores classic cars says the trade swears by it, they make several different types, but for anyone who doesn't want to wax every month this seems to fit the bill. The shine is outstanding..... 2006 Discovery 3 TDV6 SE auto, Cairns Blue, Lamp Guards, LR Roof Bars - Just love it!

i love 476. Superb durability. As for the shine, well that's down to the defect free nature, or otherwise, of the paint. As you say, the key is to apply really thin with a damp applicator. I use it on the side glass and wheels too. Unbeatable for the £££'s!

Have a look in the trader section of www.detailingworld.co.uk There's plenty who sell it. Also look at the 915 for the darker colours. Slightly less durable (only a bit though) but richer on dark blues & blacks etc. I also find the German applicator sponges worth the money as well. One tip with any colly though, do one panel at a time, especially in direct sun or on a hot day. Unless of course you have arms like Jean-Claude Van-Damme.
If you use the swirl-o-matic car washes it's worth appllying AG Super resin Polish before the collinite as it masks a lot of the swirls.

Collinite generally is a fantastic wax. I'm currently using 915 but will give 476 a go sooner or later, although if I wait till the the 915 tin is empty I'll be waiting 10 years! Badda bing.......How you doin'?
Java black SE, standard spec. Clean and shiny.

Agree 476s is really good stuff for the money, though I find 2 coats 24hrs apart gives best result and last for quite sometime, though i also topped up the car with the Dodo Juice Red Mist i bought from JKP Detail after each wash or two
