Connect RGB cable

While installing my reversing camera I have found that a 5m lead is not quite long enough.
I cut the RCA plug off the end to get the cable through the rubber conduit into the upper tailgate.
What is the best way of joining an extension to it? Crimp an RCA plug to it and buy a 0.5m extension cable (which I will have to cut the rca plug off the other end to fit the SMB plug to go into the screen).
